GAMEDAY 2011

It is already the month of November; a month filled with friendships, family, football, food, and plenty of fun. This semester is flying by and this weekend was no exception. On Thursday night, I went country western dancing with a bunch of my friends in MSC Fish. We took over the Hall in College Station and danced the night away! On Friday night, I attended Casino Night at the Traditions. This event was pretty much a college version of Pro-Grad; complete with blackjack tables, slot machines, a chocolate fountain, a photo booth, raffles, prizes, and much more. I had a ton of fun gamblin’ with KK and meeting all of her friends from the “Trad-Pad!” And finally… Saturday was the day all the Aggie Tri-Delt’s had been waiting for- It was GAMEDAY! Gameday is Delta Delta Delta’s huge philanthropy event to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! In a sense, it was a “tailgate for St. Jude”. We watched the A&M vs. OU game, served BBQ and Red Mango, and listened to several talented musicians. Huge thanks to Lauren Paine and the entire philanthropy committee for continuing to raise support for St. Jude and making this event a total success! My family drove in town for the weekend to attend Gameday and meet a bunch of my beautiful sisters! I sold tickets to several of my friends and I hope they had a lot of fun there as well. My favorite part of the event was spending time with my baby sister and hearing her tell people she would be a part of the future Tri-Delt “PC ‘18”. She was such a nut! I had a blast dancing by the stage and swaying alongside my sisters! I spent the night with my family at their hotel room and today was Tri-Delta’s Pledge Presentation. My Dad and Grand-Big escorted me, and handed me a flower. This was a formal ceremony for pledges and parents to celebrate our official membership. I am so thankful that my family took time out of their lives to support my involvement with Tri-Delta and visit me. The weekend had its ups and its downs, but it was so refreshing to see the people I love. I am also thankful for all of the new friendships I have made thus far in college. My transition couldn’t have been any smoother and I couldn’t be surrounded by a more encouraging and well-rounded group of people. Although I have a million and one things to do, I am way too blessed to be stressed. Happy November!
